Hi friends, fans and folks.
I have the pleasure of announcing that I have some new old music, a 2-song "digital single" released today on The China Sea Recordings Concern.
The tracks are a couple of honest tales of fear and redemption. "That Punishing Rain" looks at weathering the encroaching storms of life. "Now is Over" speaks to standing one's ground against the vagaries of time.
This pair of tracks was a musical departure for me. The wonderfully talented Colin J Nelson took my Americana themes and gave them an Art-Pop sensibility. Colin was the producer, arranger, instrumentalist and engineer. I wrote the songs in my slow, dark style and he had me sing them to a quickened, lighter beat. The collaboration gave my old music new life.
In the new year I hope to record two fully-produced albums, "True" and "Bare." I just have to raise the necessary funds. (More on that at a later date.)
For now, I hope you download these two special tracks. You can buy them for the low price of $1.99 at http://chinasearecordings.bandcamp.com/album/that-punishing-rain.
The China Sea Recordings Concern specializes in a non-genre, yet highly curatorial approach to digital music distribution, all original and truly independent. While you're there please take a listen to the works of their other terrific artists - Jason Goessl (The Pornadoes), Graham Brice, Phil Gammage, Colin J Nelson, Jon Rooney and curator Marc Laurick (yeah clementines).
Truth needs to be told.
Thanks for listening.
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Cheers for now.
