I've been a journalist most of my adult life, having been a news producer for ABC News, CNN and MSNBC.com, among others. There was a time when the difference between journalist and commentator was clearly defined. But gradually there came a blurring of the distinctions between reporter, commentator, partisan, operative, pollster, advisor, activist and analyst. The public interest has suffered from the resulting obfuscation of the truth. Above is a song I wrote ten years ago about the changes I saw happening in journalism and politics.
